Kepengurusan Inapra Terbentuk, Prof Jumanto Jadi Presiden Pertama, Ini Visi-misinya

 SEMARANG (Sigi Jateng) – Kepengurusan perdana Indonesian Pragmatics Association (Inapra) masa khidmat periode 2022-2027 telah resmi dilantik dengan Guru Besar bidang linguistik Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS) Prof. Dr. Drs. Jumanto, M.Pd., terpilih sebagai Presiden.

Prof Jumanto sendiri terpilih sebagai presiden Inapra pada 13 Juli lalu saat ‘Rembug Nasional Daring Indonesian Pragmatics Discussion Forum’.

Pada pelantikan yang dilakukan pada Selasa (2/8/2022) ini, Prof Jumanto memaparkan rencana jangka pendek hingga jangka panjang. Prof. Jumanto menanggapi bahwa dilantiknya menjadi presiden perdana merupakan sebuah tanggung jawab yang cukup besar.

“Memulai sesuatu yang baru bukanlah hal yang gampang,” ungkapnya.

Abstract

This linguistics study aims to observe the development of norms in WhatsApp Groups (WAGs). Over the years, linguists have devoted their time to theorizing norms of im/politeness evaluations and linguistic interactions in computer-mediated communication (CMC). However, the norms of virtual interactions have not gained adequate attention. This study systematically documented and examined the conversations of 539 members of three WAGs to describe the norms of virtual group communication. The data obtained were enhanced through anecdotal evidence of the experiences acquired in joining other WAGs. The data indicated four sources of WAGs norms: the aims of creating the group, framing unmarked behaviors, and framing positive or negative evaluations of members' utterances or actions. The members' alignments toward non-virtual individual and social norms also significantly affect their negotiating WAG norms. In the stages of the norming process, WAGs tend to experience conflicts due to interpersonal differences. These disputes are likely to disrupt the group's performance or predispose some members. Theoretically, group development is comprised of formation, conflicts, norming, and performance. Depending on the homogeneity or heterogeneity of the member's background, WAGs do not necessarily experience conflicts in the norming process. However, some of them tend to leap the stages from formation to performance.

Abstract

In this study, the researchers focus on the meaning of the DECADE album cover from They Fell From The Sky music band. This was chosen because the artwork used is quite attractive and has This study uses qualitative research with a descriptive method. The analysis was carried out using the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes and the pragmatics theory of John Searle. This study aimed to determine the meaning contained in the cover design of the DECADE album. This research shows that between context signs and visible signs, there is a relationship where the two synergize in the title. The band, namely "They Fell From The Sky," by using a skull image that uses an astronaut costume in an iconic, denotative, and connotative symbolizing "death," a form of death because "falling from the sky" so the message to be conveyed is to publish the Decade album which for ten years or "a decade" like struggling until astronauts in outer space experience death as if falling from the sky. The Astronaut's skull artwork entitled in Indonesian "Binasa" ("Perish" in English) which is the basis of the DECADE album cover design, also strengthens this interpretation.
